Vic High Reads & Summer Reading
Thank you to all classes who participated and all who attended. Compared to 2018 and 2019, numbers of attending and voting students were significantly higher. I also anticipate that Vic High Reads will once again have the long-term desired impact of increasing general circulation in our library. Our community judges were delighted to be a part of the event and genuinely enjoyed the presentations,
H You can view the entire Vic High Reads 2025 event HERE. Thank you to Chris McDonald and his Video Arts student for recording and editing!
Pl Consider signing out one of the 12 long listed titles this summer! Singletons are available for the non-shortlisted books, and multiple copies are available of the shortlisted titles. You'll find them on the wall display shelves adjacent to the antique oak bookshelf. You are also welcome to sign out other books over the summer!
June Reading Themes
Themes of the Month
th There are books displays for all of the following themes:
Please encourage students to keep reading -- but remind them that all books are due on Monday June 23.
*Library book returns & text return reminders
Although there will be daily announcements and email reminders to students, the library will provide all Block A teachers with a report listing all students who have resources to return byJune 23. These reports will be in office mailboxes by end of day, Monday, June 16.
Please remind students individually before the end of classes. Thank you for your help!
*Canva -- Please read & remind your students!
We are fortunate enough to enjoy a free Canva Pro license at present -- but our licenses are limited to 500. I will be wiping all accounts on Tuesday, June 24 so we begin fresh in September. Your students must download their projects by this date if they wish to save them. *Adopt a library plant for the summer!
I cannot take home all the plants this year as I will be away for the summer and another 18 plants for my house sitter won't be a reasonable request. Please consider adopting 1-2 plants for the summer months if you're on a staycation; if they aren't watered, they will die. Most plants are small but some are taller, and all are easy care. Thank you for your help!
“One benefit of Summer was that each day we had more light to read by.”
