 NEW RESOURCES

The library has acquired a  huge set of new resources to support Indigenous themes, history, and ways of learning to support curriculum across various subject areas.  Indigenous knowledge and knowledge transmission through stories, plants, and cultural practices are major focal points in the new additions to our library's collection.

These books will be celebrated at a mini book launch in the library during Truth and Reconciliation Week in September.  Stay tuned for details on time!

Teacher requests for other themes are always welcome.  A biography/autobiography/memoir unit last year resulted in a significant augmentation of new resources to support this unit.  Just ask!

NEW(ER) SUBSCRIPTION FOR STUDENT PRESENTATIONS

If you've used Canva.com before, you'll know that it's a user-friendly and time-efficient tool for students to create presentations in varied formats.  Format options include posters, infographics, graphs, mind maps, concept maps, CD covers, book covers, web sites, comic strips, youtube introductions, and "talking presentations" (still images with narration).

Our library has acquired a FREE school-subscription allowing every staff member and every student in the school individual access.    You can join our school's subscription with a code:  see Wendy when you're ready to try it out as the code is valid for a four hour window only.

ACCESSING STAFF RESOURCES

All tabs beneath the Staff Resources menu can be accessed with the password vhstaff1914.  Please do not share this password with students.   The Staff Resources menu provides access to Bookings/Tech Hub, Spotlights/Updates, Special Subscriptions, First Peoples' Principles of Learning, and Recommended Reading.

TO SHARE WITH STUDENTS

Please print or post a digital copy of the following poster for students.  It includes off-site user names and passwords for the Digital Resource Hub of resources as well as highlights of other useful parts of the library web page.

BOOKING THE LIBRARY AND THE TL 

You can book the library computers directly from the Tech Hub Link.

Chromebooks for classroom use should be reserved through the Vic High Tech Hub. Chromebooks are available on each floor.

There are 20 library chromebooks that can be booked for use in the library — and for occasional  usage off-site of the library if classes are short a few Chromebooks.  They are not an overflow lab for loan to classes.

Book Wendy for collaboration via email or in person.  Wendy's Outlook Calendar is shared with staff if you want to pre-check for availability.  Wendy will enter your booking request in Outlook and share it with you so that it is in your Outlook Calendar.
